Al Khabir- The All-Aware

Allah is always present. It is we who deviate from being with Him. If we were aware of His presence with every breath then our expression of  compassion, kindness, love, sensitivity, peace etc and so on would be realized. It would be realized as His and we would not take claim or ownership of that which is a manifestation of Allah. When we claim that we are kind, we are nice, we are taking possession of His attributes.

Who is kind? Who is nice? Allah is, and when we claim them then we are in shirk (claiming we are God). These claims include identifying with our roles as loving wife/husband,mother/father,/daughter/son,  kind neighbor, faithful friend, honest person.  If I say out loud- ‘I can not own being nice, I have faults, I make mistakes’-it may instigate feelings of emptiness at first because, well, you may ask who am I then? Aren’t I saying negative things about myself? No, in my experience, this is admitting that there is a power/energy greater than me  in control. Yes, even in control of me. I am not in control. Allah is in control. Whew, does that feel good to say or what? My job is to be in a loving, relationship with Allah. This relationship occurs when the brain and heart connect and act accordingly in each situation that arises; this may actualize by being nice when the moment calls for it, by speaking the truth to somebody when you really want to just smile and walk away, by loving my child, by telling my mother that I love her but I can’t talk right now. My job is not to be in control of each and every minute detail.

Whatever arises in each moment is an opportunity to make rabita (heart connection) with Allah and see what is necessary to say, do or pray. In this way to be the vessel, the conduit for His compassion, love, kindness, healing nature, understanding, Truth.

It’s said in the Quran “Allah is closer than your jugular vein”.  The heart is actively pumping the blood through our arteries and veins exchanging gases from carbon dioxide to oxygen giving us life force.  See how much Allah loves us! Our bodies are doing His zikr without our even being aware. Our heart beats A-llah, A-llah, A-llah, A-llah, A-llah. Our breath sings Allah Huuuuu, Allah Huuuuu, Allah Huuuu. See how much we can love Allah.

Shukran for this most welcome post Dianne.
I stumbled upon your website and realised
I was reading the post of a spiritual sister in
    the northern climes. How exciting!
Ya Khabir will definitely form part of my daily practice. Your capsule reviews of the Beautiful
    Names/Attributes of Allah are tastefully done;
    easily digestable. Great work!
I am posting a poem I wrote a while ago for you:
    Love

    Without love

    Nothing hurts, nothing heals
    Nothing wars, nothing wheels

    Without love

    Nothing burns, nothing breathes,
    Nothing sighs, nothing heaves

    Without love

    Nothing weeps, nothing leaps
    Nothing leaves, nothing lies

    Without love

    Nothing grows; nothing dies
    Nothing dares, nothing defies

    Without love

    Nothing wounds, nothing feels
    Nothing smokes, nothing chokes

    Without love

    Nothing steals, nothing reels
    Nothing turns, nothing learns

    Without love

    Nothing stabs, nothing grabs
    Nothing croons, nothing swoons

    Without love

    Nothing wrecks, nothing ruins
    Nothing kills, nothing wills

    Without love

    Nothing woos, nothing shoos,
    Nothing flies, nothing dives

    Without love

    Nothing pleads, nothing bleeds
    Nothing lives, nothing dies

    Without love

    Nothing breaks, nothing flakes
    Nothing rides, nothing glides

    Without love

    Nothing hides, nothing chides
    Nothing hoards, nothing hones

    Without love

    Nothing frowns, nothing clowns,
    Nothing drinks, nothing drowns

    Without love

    Nothing hates, nothing slates
    Nothing eats, nothing grates

    Without love

    Nothing swirls, nothing whirls
    Nothing flows, nothing knows

    Without love

    Nothing yearns, nothing turns
    Nothing grinds, nothing roasts

    Without love

    Nothing steams, nothing beams
    Nothing seeks, nothing finds

    Without love

    Nothing weaves, nothing grieves
    Nothing yields, nothing conceives

    Without love

    No Lote tree, no rose
    No storm, no calm

    Without love

    No circle, no dance
    No tears, no trance

    Without love

    No sun, no One
    No Moon, no stars

    Without love

    No beginning, no end
    No fire, no friend

    Without love,

    Without Your love
    We’re nothing at all

    Without love

    We’re nothing at all
    Without Your love

MashAllah Deela. What a lovely poem. Love is our religion.
Do you have a blog? I’d like to read more of your poetry.
